4 Years of re:Mix: From a Crazy Idea to a Circular Blender

Four years ago, we launched a crazy idea: a blender designed to last, built for a more circular future.

Back in June 2021, re:Mix was little more than an idea. We had a simple but ambitious question: what if home electronics could be designed differently?

What if a blender wasn't made to be replaced after a few years? What if it could be repaired, upgraded, reused and kept in your kitchen for decades?

June 2021: The beginning

It all started with a crazy idea: build a blender designed to last.

We started experimenting, sketching, prototyping and, of course, breaking things along the way. Our first prototypes were far from perfect, but they helped us turn an idea into something tangible.

And then came the big step: our Kickstarter campaign in June 2022.

We shared our vision with the world and, more importantly, with a community of people who believed that electronics could be made more responsibly.

From prototypes to real re blenders

After the Kickstarter, the idea became a real product.

We started producing re:Mix, improving the design, solving technical challenges and figuring out how to make a circular product work in the real world.

There were hundreds of small decisions behind every blender: materials, components, manufacturing, repairs, packaging, compatibility and everything in between.

We learned a lot. We also failed a lot.

And that's exactly how it got better.

June 2023: Making re:Mix better

By 2023, we were no longer just working on a prototype.

We were producing and shipping real blenders, meeting our first customers and continuously improving the product.

We also took another important step: making our first re:Mix batch available as open source on GitHub.

Because for us, circularity isn't just about making a product that lasts longer, it's also about sharing knowledge, making repair possible and questioning the way products are traditionally designed and manufactured.

June 2024: Growing the community

By 2024, something had changed. re:Mix was no longer just our project. It had become a community. More users meant more recipes, more feedback, more ideas and more reasons to keep improving.

We saw people experimenting with different ingredients, discovering new ways to use their blender and sharing their experiences with us.

And that's one of the things we love most about this journey: a product doesn't exist in isolation. It's shaped by the people who use it.

June 2025: Circularity in action

Four years in, we were seeing the original idea take shape in ways we couldn't have imagined back in 2021.

re:Mix appeared in the Japanese magazine BRUTUS, received recognition through the German Design Award, and our work around circularity continued to grow.

We also started building new partnerships, including collaborations with Clean My Calanques, working together around environmental action and refurbished re blenders.

From our workshop to beaches, design awards, magazines and kitchens around the world, the journey had taken us much further than that first prototype.

And today?

Looking back, so much has changed.

We built our first prototypes.
We launched a Kickstarter.
We produced hundreds of re:Mix blenders.
We met incredible people.
We tried, failed, learned and improved.
We built partnerships.
We grew a community.

From a small idea in our heads to a funky community.

But one thing hasn't changed:

The mission. The values. The crazy idea.

To build electronics differently. To design products that can last longer. To make repair, reuse and circularity part of the way we think about everyday objects.

And we're still just getting started.

Thank you for being part of it 💚

None of this would have happened without the people who believed in the idea, supported the Kickstarter, bought a re:Mix, shared a recipe, sent us feedback, repaired a blender, recommended us to a friend or simply followed along.

Every message, every piece of feedback and every blender in a kitchen is part of this story.

So, four years later: thank you. Thank you for believing that another way is possible. And thank you for being part of the journey towards a more circular future.

Here's to the next chapter.
